As always
it was nice to talk with Maree and even tho she is undergoing challenging times
the evening was extremely pleasant. The evening was made better by Marg Livo
arriving after the finish of the Richmond – Essendon Practice Match
Day 2 - Albury
to Bottle
Bend
·
Breakfast
@ Borellas Café with JAF, Maree & Joel Ryan, Julie & Clare Miller, and
Robyn Nicholson.
With all the Livo girls in one place the conversation was
plenty! All enjoyed a loud, exuberant and opinionated discussion!!!!! And drove past the Beekeeper's childhood home.

Headed
west on the Riverina Highway and when driving through Howlong who should appear
but Squirt!!!! You can run but you can’t hide! Nice to meet and speak with him
and not surprisingly he hasn’t changed.

though Savernake, Berrigan, Finley, Deniliquin (lunch), Euston, Kerang &
Swan Hill

Camped for
the night 5 metres from the Murray River @ Bottle Bend. The night and stunning
sunset paid for the Camp Directory # 6 book in full!
Day 3 - Bottle
Bend to
Adelaide
·
Lovely
late morning. Plenty of time to enjoy toast and honey for breakfast while
packing
·
Headed
west and crossed the Murray into Victoria at Mildura. We passed through plenty
of grapes and citrus although it seemed that at least some of the vineyards and
orchards were feeling the effect of too many/ much competition.
·
Into South
Australia after finishing the rest of our fruit and salad at a roadside stop
where we shared our meal with at least 40,000 flies, according to the Educator.
We are in Australia after all.
·
Coffee
& cake at the Waikerie Bakery (love that name) before winding through the
grapevines of the Barossa Valley.
·
Tasted and
bought necessary supplies at Kaesler Wines. Great tasting room and a very nice
hostess made the samples even better. Tasted all that were offered and could
easily have bought one of each but didn’t quite have the $120 for the bottle of
the Alte Reben Shiraz (but wished we did). We did buy 6 bottles of the 2008
Nashwauk Shiraz and 6 of the Clare Valley Rose. Nice!
·
Into
Adelaide and booked into the Country Comfort Adelaide. Nice place in a lovely
location.
·
Dinner at
Sugar Cane – Vietnamese. Good food and company finished a good day!
